I want my Miniature Schnauzer to perform for the reward of performing his commands.
The Response is the reward
When training your dog most people use treat reward. That in itself is not a bad idea, however, there is a method to doing it correctly. Once the dog comprehends the command then it becomes necessary to reward in irregular intervals and extending the delayed gratitification for longer and longer periods of time until the dog arrives at the point of the response, opening the command is the reward. I compare this to someone evolving from a hedonist to an epicurean to eventually arrive at the stoic. To do otherwise to eventually get counter productive behavior which is not what you are looking for.
The reward is the response is that the dog eventually enjoys preforming the command for the enjoyment of the end result. Dogs love to please even when they are not be rewarded with treats and praise.
The response reward is accomplished as a result of random treat reward.
